About

Ryan Harrison, roughly.

St. Louis, Missouri

I'm Ryan. I live in St. Louis, Missouri, with my wife and our two dogs, and I have more hobbies than is probably reasonable.

After a motorcycle crash left me paralyzed, I didn't stop chasing difficult goals; I learned to do them differently. That is how I ended up in competitive shooting. An Adaptive Defensive Shooting Summit, which I attended through a grant from BattleBuddy 3 Gun, led to paratrap, air rifle, IDPA and 2-gun. I also coach adaptive shooters.

My professional background is in marketing, especially brand activation and experiential work: getting people to show up and pay attention. Those instincts shape how I speak about accessibility, and they carried over to the microphone at drifting events, where I announced for Midwest Drift Union's Formula Drift Pro-Am series and for Turismo Drift.

Then there is Rival House, the automotive collective I co-founded on the StanceWorks forums in 2009. It grew into automotive features, garage culture, drifting, events and a long-running online community. My 1976 Volkswagen Scirocco became closely associated with it. I have since sold the Scirocco, and Toyota Land Cruisers became the next chapter of my automotive interests.

The rest is rabbit holes: Linux, a homelab that grew a TAK Server, amateur radio and GMRS, a passive drone detection project with its own firmware, and national parks and travel.
